ISLAM IS THE FASTEST GROWING RELIGION IN THE WEST AND THE WORLD

by Syarif Hidayat

Despite Islamophobia that is still prevailing strongly in the western countries, Islam proves to be the fastest growing religion in the Western World including Russia, France, Germany, United Kingdom, United States, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland and Cyprus. Conversion to Islam has nearly doubled in the past decade, according to one of the most comprehensive attempts to estimate how many people have embraced Islam.

And despite the often negative potrayal of Islam, thousands of Britons are adopting the religion every year. In the previous estimation, there were 60,699 converts living in Britain in 2001. With no new census planned, the researchers polled mosques in London to try to calculate how many conversions take place in a year.  The results gave a figure of 1,400 conversions in the capital, which when extrapolated nationwide, would mean approximately 5,200 people adopting Islam every year.

THE FUTURE OF ISLAM IN IRELAND: IT WILL BECOME SECOND RELIGION IN 2043

THE FUTURE OF ISLAM IN IRELAND: IT WILL BECOME SECOND RELIGION IN 2043

by Syarif Hidayat

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. Allah SWT says in Al Qur’an: "When there comes the Help of Allâh (to you, O Muhammad PBUH) and the victory, And you see that the people enter Allâh's religion (Islâm) in crowds.  So glorify the Praises of your Lord, and ask His Forgiveness. Verily, He is the One Who accepts the repentance and Who forgives." - (Al Qur'an, Surah An-Nasr, verses 1-3).
O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians)! Now has come to you Our Messenger (Prophet Muhammad PBUH) explaining to you much of that which you used to hide from the Scripture and pass over (i.e. leaving out without explaining) much. Indeed, there has come to you from Allâh a light (Prophet Muhammad PBUH) and a plain Book (this Qur’ân). Wherewith Allâh guides all those who seek His Good Pleasure to ways of peace, and He brings them out of darkness by His Will unto light and guides them to the Straight Way (Islâmic Monotheism).” - Al Qur’an Surah Al Maidah, Verse 15-16.

ISLAM IN IRELAND: THE FASTEST GROWING RELIGION

Islam in Ireland: the fastest growing religion

by Maggie Armstrong (independent.ie)

Islam is Ireland’s fastest-growing religion, with the number of Muslims recorded in the 2011 Census – 48,130 – expected to reach 100,000 by 2020. In a country where only 34pc of approximately 3.8 million Catholics attend Mass, many people are drifting away from religion.

But a small number are finding that Islamic beliefs and practices, which allow for a peaceful and community-oriented life, fit their spiritual needs.

It is estimated that up to 500 Irish people convert to Islam every year. There is no official register and no baptism – to convert you simply have to recite the testimony of creed in front of two Muslim witnesses.

While more women convert than men, and most conversions are for marriage, people can have very personal reasons for converting – or reverting as it is known in the Islamic faith, in which it is believed that everyone was born Muslim.
