JESUS AND MUHAMMAD (UPON THEM BE PEACE), BROTHERS IN FAITH

Jesus and Muhammad (upon them be peace), brothers in faith

by Shaykh Naeem Abdul Wali (Gary Edwards)

“If you would trust in God as is His right to be trusted He would give you your provision as He gives it to the birds, they leave their roosts hungry and return satiated”, said the final universal Messenger, Muhammad.  Similarly the author of the Gospel of Mathew has his closest brother, Jesus saying to the crowds around him, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.   Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?  Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.   Are you not much more valuable than they?”  A little later he addressed them as, “O you of little faith?”

BEHIND A VEIL OF TEARS: JEWISH FATHER SUPPORTS HEADSCARF DAUGHTERS

Behind a veil of tears: Jewish father supports headscarf daughters

by Daniel Ben Simon

Two sisters became captivated by Islam, and their French liberal, `Jewish-by-chance’ father has found himself having to face up to their religiosity and subsequent expulsion from school. The incident has provoked both private and national ferment.

Laurent Levy, a sworn liberal and a total atheist, noticed dramatic changes in his two daughters, but he did not attribute much importance to them. One day, about two years ago, the two girls stopped eating pork. “No problem,” he said. A while later, they informed him that they intended to fast during the holy Muslim month of Ramadan. Levy thought it the most natural thing in the world that his daughters were adopting.

MUSLIMS ARRIVED IN AMERICA BEFORE THE FOUNDING OF THE UNITED STATES

America’s early Muslims

by Peter Manseu

IT was not the imam’s first time at the rodeo.
Scheduled to deliver an invocation at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo last week, Moujahed Bakhach of the local Islamic Association of Tarrant County canceled his appearance because of the backlash brought on by a prayer he had offered a few days before.

The imam had been asked to confer a blessing on horses, riders and members of the military. He was met with gasps from the audience and social media complaints: “Outraged at a Muslim prayer at an all American event!” “Cowboys don’t want it!”

IN ISLAM, DEATH IS NOT PERCEIVED AS AN END OF LIFE

Conveying rewards beyond the grave

by alahazrat.net

Allah – in the name of – the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
At the outset please know, that in Islam, death is not perceived as an end of life. It is just the end of the worldly existence as we witness it, and the beginning of a new existence, in which the soul experiences a new world called “Barzakh.”

The soul may experience this new life with or without its original body, according to its own rank allotted to it by Allah the Almighty, the Supreme. There are too many proofs from the Holy Qur’an and Hadeeth (Holy Prophet’s Traditions) regarding the above, and warrant an extensive article on the same. But that is not the question here.

THE TRINITY: A MUSLIM PERSPECTIVE

The Trinity: A Muslim perspective

by Abdal-Hakim Murad

A number of difficulties will beset any presentation of Muslim understandings of the Trinity. Not the least of these is the fact that these Muslim understandings have been almost as diverse and as numerous as those obtaining among Christian scholars themselves. It is true that medieval Islam knew much more about Christian doctrine than the doctors of the Church did about Islam, for the obvious reason that Muslim societies contained literate minorities with whom one could debate, something which was normally not the case in Christendom.

JESUS FROM A MUSLIM PERSPECTIVE

Jesus from a Muslim perspective

by MV Media

Jesus of Nazareth is the most widely revered religious figure in the world. Not only is he central to Christianity, the largest religion in the world, he is also venerated throughout Islam, the world’s second largest faith.

Christians may be surprised to learn that Muslims believe in the Virgin Birth and Jesus’ miracles. But this shared interest in his message goes much further.
In our scientific age, the miraculous side of Jesus’ story has greatly obscured his role in the prophetic tradition. In this sense, there may be more important questions for Muslims and Christians than whether he walked on water or raised the dead.

JESUS IS A MUSLIM AND HIS RELIGION IS ISLAM IN EVERY SENSE

by Syarif Hidayat

Jesus is a Muslim and his religion is Islam in every sense. Here is the proof from Al-Qur’an: Islamic view of Jesus (Jesus in Islam is Prophet Isa AS)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. "He (Isa) said: "Verily I am a slave of Allah, He has given me the Scripture (Injil) and made me a Prophet; "And He has made me blessed wheresoever I be, and has enjoined on me Salat (prayer), and Zakat*, as long as I live."
"And dutiful to my mother, and made me not arrogant, unblest. "And Salam (peace) be upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I shall be raised alive (again)!" Such is Isa, son of Maryam. (It is) a statement of truth, about which they doubt (or dispute). It befits not (the Majesty of) Allah that He should beget a son (this refers to the slander of Christians against Allah, by saying that Isa is the son of Allah). Glorified (and Exalted) be He (above all that they associate with Him). When He decrees a thing, He only says to it: "Be!" – “and it is.” (Isa said): "And verily Allah is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him (Alone). That is the Straight Path. (Allah’s religion of Islamic Monotheism which He did ordain for all of His Prophets)." Al Qur’an, Surah Maryam (Virgin Mary) 30 -36 ( Tafsir At-Tabarî )

AVOIDING THE ONE-EYED VISION OF RELIGION

Avoiding the one-eyed vision of Religion

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

The Dajjal, as everyone knows, has only one eye. Those ulema who are concerned to understand and apply their intuition rather than simply to act as historical relay stations have sometimes interpreted this attribute as a reference to the characteristic sickness of decadent religious communities; a sickness that will necessarily be at its most prevalent as the end of time approaches.

The human creature has been given two eyes for reasons of obvious biological utility: the capacity for focusing so splendidly produced by the ciliary muscles in the eyeball (a superb technology most of us never pause to give thanks for) is nonetheless not a perfect instrument for the gauging of distance. Human beings need perspective: for hunting and for fighting; and for the efficient monitoring of children. And hence we have two eyes, as the Qur’an notes, asking for our faith and our thankfulness: ‘Have We not given him two eyes’?

Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) said:

“Allah will cover seven people with His shade, on the Day when there will be no shade but His: a just ruler, a youth who has grown up in the worship of Allah, a man whose heart is attached to the mosques, two persons who love each other only for Allah’s sake and they meet and part in Allah’s cause only, a man who refuses the call of a beautiful and influential woman for illicit relation with her and says: I am afraid of Allah, a man who gives charitable gifts so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given, and a person who remembers Allah while he is alone and his eyes are flooded with tears.” (Al-Bukhari)

Iblis (satan) refused to participate in the ceremonial prostration towards Adam (PBUH), and was thus cursed by Allah (SWT), banished from the comfortable abode of Jannah. Humiliated and dejected, Iblis hatched a plan of revenge against Adam (PBUH) and Hawwa, luring them to the forbidden tree.

After repeated waswasa (evil whisper), it worked. Our parents ate from the tree, and their clothes of Jannah were pulled away. They were humiliated (and removed to earth), and that was what Iblis had wanted.

Science says lasting relationships come down to you guessed it kindness and generosity.

Every day in June, the most popular wedding month of the year, about 13,000 American couples will say “I do,” committing to a lifelong relationship that will be full of friendship, joy, and love that will carry them forward to their final days on this earth.

Except, of course, it doesn’t work out that way for most people.
The majority of marriages fail, either ending in divorce and separation or devolving into bitterness and dysfunction.

AUSTRALIAN MUSLIMS CELEBRATE EID AL ADHA AMID ISLAMOPHOBIA SWEEPING THE KANGAROO COUNTRY

by Syarif Hidayat*

Thousands of Australian Muslims gathered to celebrate Eid al-Adha, as the country politicians pushed for unity and denounced bigotry. Eid al-Adha, also known as 'Festival of the Sacrifice' is a Muslim holiday that celebrates the Prophet Ibrahim for his willingness to sacrifice his own son, Ismail at the order of Allah.

Political and religious leaders have used an Eid celebration in Sydney's west to call for respect and peace amid growing tensions.  About 20,000 people gathered in Sydney's southwest to mark Eid al-Adha, which also celebrates the end of the annual pilgrimage, known as hajj, to Mecca.

Prayers rang out through Lakemba Mosque in Sydney's west on Saturday, October 4, 2014, when the Muslim community gathered to worship and feast at the end of the annual Hajj. While politicians from both Australia’s major parties stood among the colourful hijabs and the white thobes donned by men to preach a message of unity.

HAJJ IS THE MOST SIGNIFICANT MANIFESTATION OF ISLAMIC FAITH AND MUSLIM UMMAH UNITY

HAJJ PILGRIMAGE IS THE MOST SIGNIFICANT MANIFESTATION OF ISLAMIC FAITH AND MUSLIM UMMAH UNITY

Al Haram Mosque, Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

by Syarif Hidayat

The Hajj, is the fifth pillar of Islam and the most significant manifestation of Islamic faith and unity of Muslim ummah. Performing the Hajj pilgrimage at least once in a lifetime is a duty for Muslims who are physically and financially able to make the journey to Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The most important part and the core of Hajj pilgrimage is the Day of Arafah. The Day of Arafah (Arabic: يوم عرفة) is an Islamic Holy Day, in which the verse of the Qur’an was revealed which explained that is said that the religion had been perfected.

The Day falls on the 9th day of Dhul Hijja (ذو الحجة) of the lunar Islamic Calendar. This happens to be approximately 70 days after the end of the month of Ramadan. It is the second day of the Hajj pilgrimage and the day after is the first day of the major Islamic Holiday of Eid ul-Adha. At dawn of this day, Muslim pilgrims will make their way from Mina to a nearby hillside and plain called Mount Arafa and the Plain of Arafa. It was from this site that Muhammad gave his famous Farewell Sermon in his final year of life.

LOVE AND ROMANCE IN ISLAM

Love and romance in Islam

by http://jamiat.org.za

The IBA Iqra Society invited Sheikh Kamaluddin Ahmed’s wife ‘Alimah Sobia Ahmed’ on the 22nd of November, 2010 to deliver a lecture on the topic Romance in Islam. The following is an edited version of the notes prepared by Maliha Abidi during the lecture. It also includes some points from a lecture delivered by Alimah Sobia Qasim (a student of the speaker) at a summer program in Karachi called Footsteps.

The word “Muhabbat” comes from the Arabic word “Hubb(a)”, which literally means seed; a seed that every human being has. That is, it is important for us to realize that love (or rather, feeling (verb)) is a function of the heart, just like seeing is the function of the eye.

JEWISH SCHOLAR MOVED BY PROPHET PBUH'S FORBEARANCE: ZAID IBN SU'NAH ACCEPTS ISAM

Jewish Scholar Moved by the Prophet's Forbearance

Zaid ibn Su`nah Accepts Islam

By Reading Islam Staff (Onislam.net)

The blessed Companion of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Abdullah ibn Salam narrates that when Allah willed to guide Zaid ibn Su`nah (the great Jewish scholar of Madinah), Zaid ibn Su`nah said:
"I recognized all of the signs of prophethood upon seeing the face of Muhammad save two signs that were not immediately evident:
That his forbearance would precede his rashness, and that his forbearance would increase upon encountering excessive rashness."
Zaid ibn Su`nah reports [the story as follows]:
"One day, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came out from his apartment with `Ali ibn Abi Talib. A Bedouin, riding his camel, came to him and said:

Al-Husayn ibn Salam was a Jewish rabbi in Yathrib [Madinah] who was widely respected and honored by the people of the city, even by those who were not Jewish. He was known for his piety and goodness, his upright conduct, and his truthfulness.

Al-Husayn lived a peaceful and gentle life but he was serious, purposeful and organized in the way he spent his time. For a fixed period each day, he would worship, teach and preach in the temple.

Then he would spend some time in his orchard, looking after date palms, pruning and pollinating. Thereafter, to increase his understanding and knowledge of his religion, he would devote himself to the study of the Torah.
