HAND versus MACHINE SLUAGHTER: HOW 'HALAL' IS YOUR CHICKENS?

Hand v machine slaughter: How “Halal” is your chicken?

 by Ahmed Kilani

Source: MuslimVillage.com

Ahmed Kilani has been working as the General + Halal Integrity Manager for Fresh Poultry for the last 8 months. In this first of a two part series he will gives an insider’s view of what is happening in the Halal Chicken industry in Australia.
In this first article, he explains the difference between Halal hand and machine slaughtered chickens looking at it from an Islamic and industry point of view.

The Halal Chicken Market in Australia

Currently there are somewhere between 7million to 8million Halal certified chickens slaughtered in Australia every week. Out of this total, about 35,000 chickens a week are hand slaughtered – about half a percent – with the balance being all Halal certified machine slaughtered chickens. That equates to 1 Halal hand slaughtered chicken for every 200 Halal certified machine slaughtered chickens that are hitting the marketplace every week.

To the average Muslim consumer desiring to do the right thing, it can get very confusing trying to work out what is Halal when it comes to chicken. The aim of this article is to provide some clarity by informing you of what the issues are to allow you to make an informed decision inshaAllah.

‘BY WAY OF DECEPTION’ THEY ARE DOING PROPAGANDA AGAINST ISLAM

Islamophobes are fabricating the myth.

‘BY WAY OF DECEPTION’ THEY ARE DOING PROPAGANDA AGAINST ISLAM

by Syarif Hidayat*

Islam is a beautiful religion, full of wisdom and harmony. Islam is a religion of love and peace. Love is one of the noblest human principles and traits that cultivate the spirit of interaction, solidarity, and cooperation and add affection to human relationships and dealings.

Muslims believe that Islam is the origin of true love in all its dimensions:  top-down (God-creation), bottom-up (creation-God), and horizontal (interpersonal) and forms, quite independent of any other faith, except inasmuch as both come from the same source, as established by historians. Many Qur’anic texts and Prophetic hadiths undeniably prove the fact that love, in the broadest sense, is an intrinsic ideal of Islam.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.  Islam is Rahmatan lil alamin” (blessings for the whole universe and its contents). The God Almighty Allah says in Al-Qur’an: “And We have sent you (O Muhammad SAW) not but as a mercy for the 'Alamîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists).” (Al-Qur’an, Surah Al-Anbiya, Verse:107).

But Islamophobes are always fabricating the myth that Islam promotes Jew-hatred such as they did by displaying ads on buses in D.C, the USA. Take a look at the ad, linked above, does anyone else find it insane that these ignorant people are spending money promoting pictures of Adolf Hitler?

ADVICE FOR PARENTS OF KIDS MEMORIZING AL-QUR’AN

Advice for parents of kids memorizing Al-Quran

by Nawal Academy

Memorizing the entire Qur’an is a dream many Muslim parents today have for their children. And indeed, this is a goal nobler than many if not all others. However, after children have memorized a number of surahs and perhaps even a juz or two of the Qur’an, there is a question that plagues many parents: how do I know if my child is ready to commit to memorizing the entire Qur’an?

Parents should be aware that doing hifz of the Qur’an is not a small task. It requires a tremendous amount of effort, focus, and dedication on behalf of the student, parent(s), and the teacher. Therefore, when deciding whether or not to enroll your children in a hifz program, you should make sure that you, the child, and the teacher are prepared for this huge and blessed commitment. If the child has a Qur’an teacher, ask the teacher if s/he feels your child is capable of doing hifz of the Qur’an. If the teacher thinks that the child indeed has the focus and persistence needed to memorize the Qur’an and that he does a very good job memorizing surahs, then you may consider enrolling the child in a hifz program.
